Was Ivan the Terrible a warrior?

I just saw a future deadliest warrior matchup between Ivan the terrible and Hernando Cortez. One thing that has me wondering is why anyone thinks Ivan was a warrior. Does anyone know of any military accomplishments Ivan did, did he ever fight in battle or lead armies? This seasons match ups are leaving me scratching my head more than the last
