What could be wrong when my 97' cutlass oldsmobile will not start?

Two weeks ago I purchased a new battery when I had to get a jump start my car.2 days ago I replaced the serpentine belt and Now my car will not start with out getting a jump start and shuts off when I put it into reverse. Anyone have any ideal what could be the problem ?
