Can u run a MSD 6al box with stock hei distributor?

I have a 1968 Oldsmobile 400 big block rebuilt bore .30 over heads redone aluminium intake 750 dp holly carb roller rockers double timing chain and gear street cam headers flowmasters now i have a stock hei distributor if i buy a 6al box will it work or do i have to do something special to it? or do i have to have a msd distributor to use the 6al box?
