pull the negative cable off of the battery. remove both of the bolts that hold the starter to the engine block, support it while you pull the 2 or 3 wires off. shift the starter to a position that will allow it to clear and then drop it to the ground. installation is pretty much the reverse order. the reason that you should pull a battery cable is so that when you drop that starter out, if the positive terminal makes contact with the block, you will not get hit with a shower of sparks or anything like that.
