Why wont my transmission shift out of 1st gear?

I had no issues until my power steering pulley broke off and the serpetine belt came off, i had that replaced then upon driving i noticed it wasnt shifting out first gear, i changed the transmission fluid and filter and no results...please help!! Its a 2000 oldsmobile shilouette van
